In this chapter, we learn that Hector and Milady have come to arrest the two men responsible for kidnapping Ellie. The two of them are trying to find her at the festival, but they don't know where she is. Hector tells Milady that if they let Milady beat them, he'll tell Ellie that she's in danger. Milady tells Hector that if he lets him beat him, she'll beat him back. Hector says that he wishes they had a bigger arena to fight in, because if they step outside, they'll lose. Hector points out that they've tried to behead the fairy king three times, but he's still alive. Hector asks Milady if it's time for a new execution, but Milady says that's just a joke. He's freed Milady from the cell, and they're about to fight. Hector thinks that Milady's tattoo is still alive, and he wonders if Milady is dead, too. He thinks Milady and Hector are fighting over a single strike, which will decide the outcome of the fight.
