In this chapter, we learn more about the events of the previous chapter. First, we're introduced to Elizabeth's father, who believed in his son's wisdom and goodness. He's sad to see that his son has fallen into the hands of the demon, and he's even more sad that he didn't follow in the footsteps of his father's holy knight, who was supposed to be the new leader of the holy knights after the death of the old one. We learn that the old knight's name was Rast, and the people trusted him so much. Now, the old guy's gone, and we learn that all the knights trusted him, too, and that he hurt so many people on his behalf. We're also told that the new guy wants to kill off the four whip-races that sealed the kingdom away from the gods. He wants to do it all for the sake of his clan's demon, which is still alive, and for his own blood, which he needs to be a disciple of the goddess of love.
