About This Chapter
When the three archangels approach, they are greeted by escanor, who tells them that he is the one who is fighting. He asks them if they have ever been in the cross-fire with the captain, and they reply that they have. He tells them how he was in his pride when the captain attacked him, and how this pain is like an "infestation" on his hands and knees. He says that the others count him as one of them, even though he has no merits and is so powerless. He adds that even if it is only in spirit, he wants to be with them to the end, even if he is only "in spirit." He tells the three angels that they should pray for him, as he is one of the "four arch angels" who will help him fight the demon lord. They reply that he should not be shocked to hear this, as the archangel had told him to fight anyone. He then asks if they would lend him the power of "sunshine," which means that he can now "rival the lord." The three angels reply that it is not possible for him to do so, as his body is already "at its limit" from the "grace of sunshine" . They remind him that he must not be risking his life fighting for others
