About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the pig-jerk who kidnapped Elizabeth is not Estarossa, but a "pig-jerk" who has been "off his rocker" for so long that he can no longer "alter one mans memories and perception" . This is the first time we've heard anyone say that, and it's clear that the narrator is trying to figure out how to end the war. He says that if the war ends, "the goddesses" will no longer have to "use the coffin of darkness" , but that he still needs "a little more magic" to do it. He asks Eliza to lend him some of hers, too, so he can "end the war." Eliza says that she will never forgive him for his "grave sin," and that she can feel the "despairable face" in her mind. She says that the "remains of the aerial theater" have gone "berserve reducing his body" to the "wretched form" that he is. Eliza is sure that the others will soon realize that something is amiss, and they'll start to suspect each other. She asks why she can't see her face when she's close to her, and she says that "there's no one in theh !" . She also says that Eliza was always thinking that she would never tell anyone a lie, and that's why she wants to help drizels and his daughter. She tells Eliza that everyone is saying that he's a coward, and everyone says that he couldn't kill a fly, but she says, "look at that face," and the "rememberings of all who knew
