In this chapter, we learn that Ban is still alive, and that he has come to the "execu-tioner" . In other words, he's back to his old self, the one who stabbed him with the spear. He's still angry, and he wants to kill him, but he can't, because killing him doesn't cure his anger. So he turns to the humans, and they're still angry at him for not protecting his sister. He realizes that Gerharde still lives, and realizes that he didn't even check to see if he was still alive. It's not true evil, he says, because even someone he considers worthless is considered "precious" by his sister . He wants to devote his soul to this fight, because it means so much to him. The holy war was real, but it wasn't an illusion, because if you changed the history of the world, it wouldn't be possible for you to do the same thing. If you tried to change the history, it would be impossible, because history is structured in such a way that history is changed to force the future back to its present state. So, if you made the same decision as him, you could have been killed in the holy war, but if you chose the wrong path, you'd never be able to return. This must be because of the "serious growing up" that Ban has done, and now he is back in the world. This is also his job, and it seems that he is still nearby.
