About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a soliloquy by King Arthur, in which he bemoans the fact that the balance of light and dark will soon break down. Chaos will return, he says, and he laments his daughter's hunger for knowledge. He laments her ugly scar, but he can still heal it if he likes. He also laments that Elizabeth's curse is lifted, and she is reunited with elaine. He wonders if she can use her power to do anything about the scar. He thinks it's beautiful, and as long as he has it, he thinks he too can use his power to heal the wound. As for the other members of the group, they all agree that they will help the King with his magic experiment. As they are talking, they see a boar's-hat on the ground, and they wonder what it is that they are going to do with it. They wonder if it is going to awaken Arthur and bring him back from the dead. They also wonder why it took so long for them to come for them, and why they didn't beat up the demon lord before they even got there. They decide that the goal of their magic experiment is to awaken the Lord of Chaos.
