In this short scene, we get a glimpse into the mind of the Governess, who is trying to decide what to do with her life. She tells us that she has come to see her sister, who has broken up with her. She is worried that she will not be able to reconcile with her sister because of her feelings for her husband. The Governess tells her sister that she must make her own decision about her future. She also tells her that she cannot see her husband as a brother.
