Back on the mainland, Hirokazu and Natsuo run into each other at the train station. They're both glad to see each other again, and they tell each other that they haven't seen each other in a long time. Hirokasue apologizes for not telling him about his sister's new school. He's ashamed that he didn't inform her sooner about her new job. He tells her that he's a regular customer at the liquor store, and he'd be ashamed if he were a drunk. She's so ashamed that she doesn't even want to talk to him. She tells him that she fell in love with him while he was away, and that he chose her because he loved her so much. She says that she's shocked when she found out that they were in love, because she thought they must've been serious about one another. She also says that if she had followed her heart, she wouldn't have been able to see him succeed as a writer. She wants to hug him when she finds out, and she wishes that she could have been with him when he found out. She apologizes that she lost her phone, but she says it's fine to keep it in her back pocket. She thanks her sister for coming to pick it up, and tells her to take good care of it.
