The chapter opens with a thank you note from Hiroshi, who thanks Hiroshi for inviting him to dine with them. Hiroshi tells Hiroshi that he's going to have a drink of wine, and Hiroshi says he'll have to memorize his lines. He asks Hiroshi if he can help him prepare some dishes for dinner, and he says he can. He's sure that Hiroshi's cooking is going to get through to his mom, and she'll be happy to hear that. He also says that he hopes Hiroshi doesn't mind if he does something for dinner that's a bit off-putting, like making a cake for a friend's birthday. He says he wants to be able to work for Hiroshi and his dad in the same place, so that they can work together in the future. He tells them that he lied about having an affair with another woman, and sent them the divorce so they could move on with their lives.
