She tells Kiriya that she wants to be a writer, but Kiriya does not believe her, saying that she does not have the talent to be an author. The two women continue to argue, with Kiriya saying that he does not want to be his pupil because he has not yet written a single story. He tells her that she should not rely on anyone else after she has written all of her stories, as she will not be able to compete with other writers.
