In this chapter, we find out that the narrator has been missing for a long time. He tells us that he's been living in Japan, where he met a guy named Arisu, who is now living in the United States. The narrator says that he has a boyfriend, but that he hasn't seen him in a long while. He also tells the narrator that the arcade where they used to play the smash-fighter games is getting rid of them, and that the guy who used to live there is now coming to play with them. He asks the narrator if he thinks this is a good thing, and the narrator replies that he thinks it's a bad thing, too. He says that the girl he used to hang out with used to call him "self-ugly" because he was her boyfriend's friend, and she doesn't want her boyfriend to think that she's had a bad day. He goes on to say that since they first met, the girl has been calling him "ugly" all the time, because she trusted him so much. He adds that she never wanted to hear what he said to cover her ass, because he said it to cover his own ass. He then asks if he can borrow the narrator for a while before school, but the narrator says he'll only be able to do so if he is alone.
