The narrator apologizes for not telling Hiroshi that he was there. Hiroshi is surprised that the narrator is there. The narrator tells him that he is a trustworthy guy and that he decked him if Hiroshi tried to attack him. He tells the narrator that he hopes they will be together for a long time and that they will not have to worry about money. He says that novelists are lucky that they don't have to sell a lot of books to make a living. He also says that Hiroshi's lack of a job makes him think that he and the narrator can move forward together. He hopes that the two of them will live happily ever after. He asks the narrator if there is anything he would like to be when he grows up. He replies that he wants to go to college, but that his family keeps telling him he should go to the university. He then says that the results of the club competition are back and that the winner of the competition is Hiroshi. He wants to throw a party to celebrate the win and he asks Hiroshi if he has bought any books. He answers that he has, and he says that he feels like he is depressed. He adds that this is not the first time he has gone through this. He feels that this melancholy will help him in the future.
