The next morning, Hiroyuki finds himself in the middle of a conversation with Natsuo, who has just returned from a swim at the beach. Hiroyuki tells him that he is very happy to be back on his own, and that he feels that he has a chance to make amends with his mom. He tells her that he was depressed the night before, and she told him that she did not want to see him again. She also said that she would not be able to get him back if they did not get along. The two of them go swimming together, and Hiroyuki notices that his nose is bleeding from a cut he made on the rocks. He thinks that he cut his foot while swimming, and he is afraid that he will have to return to shore with a bloody nose. He decides to return the boat to a student staying at the school, who is Hiroyuki's age.
