The chapter opens with a description of the food stalls at a festival. The narrator tells us that he's looking forward to grilling some squid at the festival. He also tells us about a goldfish scooping contest that he won. He's glad he won, because it's annoying to drop his phone in the water. He then tells us a little more about his fiancee, who seems to like her boyfriend, tanabe. He says that she likes tanabe because he seems like a good person, but that he doesn't let him pay his bills. He feels guilty because he thinks she likes him, and everyone thinks that he is a good guy. He tells her that if she gets married with that attitude, then she shouldn't be getting married because everyone is pushing for it. She should get married because she's the one who knows the best thing for her future.
