About This Chapter
It's been a while since we've seen the two of them together, but we're glad to see that they're still hanging out. They're both bummed out that they didn't have a good time, but they've both been working hard to get ahead in the world. The narrator is all, "Gee, it's nice to have a girlfriend" . He's also a little worried about what's going to happen to Misaki now that she's back in town. He tells the narrator to be nice to people and not to get too worked up. He also tells him to take care of himself, because he's got a lot of work to do before he can get back to his old self. He asks if he went to the employ-ment office today, and the narrator says he did, but that he'd rather not thank him for it. He then asks if there's a nice place to have dinner with him tomorrow night, and he says he'll do it, but he doesn't want to wait until he shows up. We learn that the narrator is pretty drunk, and that he used to be a writer. He says he started writing in middle school, and then he won a prize and put out his first book in high school. He feels like he has lost all of his writing, and now he can't even get it back together. He wants to go to his friend's place and think about what happened the night before.
