About This Chapter
At the end of the chapter, we find ourselves in the middle of a conversation between Hiroshi and Mishima. Mishima is trying to convince Hiroshi to go on a vacation during spring break, but Hiroshi refuses to go. He tells her that he's going to be traveling and that she should keep up with him. She tells him that she doesn't care what other people think of her, because she thinks it's better to be herself than to be thought of as a dumb girl. She also tells Mishima that she'll be sending her a text message every day to wish her good luck. The two of them reminisce about the past year and how much they've grown apart, but Mishima says that he feels more like a friend now that he can talk to her. He also tells us that Mishima has decided to take up English, which is a terrible grade, but she's determined to do it anyway because she wants to be able to tell Hiroshi what happened to her when she met him. He's worried that she won't be brave enough to tell him what happened, but he thinks that she probably will. He wonders if Mishima will confess to him, and he wonders if she has already done so. He thinks she probably hasn't done it yet, because he has always been the way he is. He says that if he were a man, he'd be running around like a crazy man.
