Irritated at the cat's behavior, the cat begs to be let into the house, but the cat refuses to let her in. He tells her that she is a bad cat and that she should stay outside and think about what a bad person she is. She begs him not to go out in the snow and to stay inside and reflect on his bad behavior. He agrees, but then he realizes that they have no choice but to go to Tomotsu's house to see him. The cat asks him why he has to go so far out of his way, and he replies that he is nicer to a cat than he is to him. He says that the whole reason they are there is because he broke his umbrella, and that is why he lent the cat his umbrella. He goes on to say that even though he feels better after the trip, it is always more trouble when he is with the cat than it is worth. He asks the cat if he wants to stop in, and the cat says that he does not want to, but that he will come in later. He then tells the cat that she has started to rebel against him.
