# 29 THE BOY CAN'T HELP IT
This is a locked chapter# 29 THE BOY CAN'T HELP IT
About This Chapter
The narrator tells the boy that he can't believe that he's been dumped. He's also been dumped before, too. The narrator says he'll get himself something to drink now that he has a new place to live. He says that he used to plan on having champagne with his girlfriend, but now that she's dumped, it's not going to happen. He thinks that maybe it would be small, but it would still be a warm place with two kids. He hopes that when he sees the woman's face, all of her weariness will melt away. The boy agrees, but says that it'll be a while before he can get over his feelings for the girl. He doesn't want to be the one to fall in love with her. He just wants to be with her now. He wishes that she would just throw the manuscript away. He also thinks that the manuscript and his dreams are the same thing: the manuscript is broken, and the dreams are broken. He wonders if there might be someone in the audience who is in love right now. The girl says she'll fix the manuscript up, but the narrator thinks that's a waste of time. He asks the boy to take the money and get himself a good breakfast.
