The scene opens with a flashback to Harima's conversation with Tsukamoto, in which he tells her that he has "recast" his part and is now going to ask her to marry him instead of her current suitor, Tomoyuki. Harima is shocked by this news and wonders what is going to happen next. She is sure that it is her old friend, who has come to steal her new husband's bride, and she is certain that he is not going to be able to do so. When she hears this news, she realizes that she is in for a rude awakening.
