About This Chapter
Two weeks have passed since the start of the journey, and the manzai have yet to find any sign of land. He has no idea where he is, and wonders why he is in the jungle. The manzai asks the queen of the jungle if she knows how to get back to Japan. The queen replies that she has lived in Japan for many years, and that she is both a queen and a high priestess. She says that the gods have told her to sacrifice the girl to the demon beast in order to save her life. The king says that he cannot stand by and allow this to happen. He says that if he wishes to save his life, he must go to the jungle and bring the beast's devil tusk to the place where the girl sleeps. He tells the king to leave everything to him, and to trust the eyes of the panda to protect him. The panda looks at the king and says, "I'm not some god. Could those eyes? I've seen those look before." The king tells the panda that his father insists that he be made the man's bride, and they will live together always
