In this chapter, we learn that Mito attends both literary clubs and martial arts clubs, and that he is "arthritic and hardy" . We learn that he has been forced into the martial arts by his father, who forced him into the dojo. Mito's teacher wants him to be a part of the music class team, and Mito refuses, saying he is staying at home to deal with the situation. The teacher has been bugging Mito to put on his performanace, and the next day, Miko's mother scolds Mito for not saying anything about her daughter's cold. Miko has forgotten about the incident entirely.
