In this chapter, we learn that the threesome has been going on for some time now, and that the girl is looking at her shoulder. She's trying to figure out which of the two guys she's in love with is the one who's going to get her hand in marriage. This is the first time we've seen the two of them together, and it's clear that they're falling in love. The narrator is all, "I'm going to teach you the way, sensei." He's not going to let the girl down, though, because he's got something important to tell her. He wants her to know that she can't keep a secret forever, and he wants to know if she'll ever be free of the man she loves. He also wants to make sure that she doesn't have to kill him to keep his secret. He tells her that he'll take her under his wing, and they'll fall in love, and then he can tell her all about his secret, and she can tell him all about her secret, too. But first, the narrator has to tell the girl that the man he loves isn't the one he loves, and the girl will probably not listen to him any more. He'll never be able to marry her again, he tells her, because the man who loves her won't listen to her any more, even if he and the man are lovers. He asks the girl if they can have a meal together, but she refuses, saying that she'd rather have a curry than a curry with ink on it.
