About This Chapter
The narrator laments the fact that he's never slept in such a tent before. He wants to be with Hanai, but he can't seem to get used to the idea of sleeping in a tent. He's also worried about the astronomy club, which is still looking for signs of life on the other side of the galaxy. Hanai is not getting up to go to sleep, and the narrator thinks that's because she's so cute and energetic that she doesn't need to wake him up. The narrator says that he thinks girls like Hanai get a "free pass" from everyone else, so he'd rather live his life quietly, even if he did want to. He also says that if he were a girl, he wouldn't be able to say that he liked something. He says that there's a song called "San," which is about being pretty, and he thinks it's cruel to think that a girl can be pretty even if she isn't wearing her glasses. He asks the narrator what she said about her glasses, and she says that they were broken when she was younger, and that they're now a telescopic lens. She says that she loves Hanai so much that she feels like her heart is burning with love. She tells the narrator that she'll use her next confession to find out what's wrong with her.
