The Governess tries to explain to the Governess why she's running away. She's not the only one who's been running away, of course. She thinks it's because of her "obstinacy" , which is why she doesn't want to stop running. She also thinks she has more endurance than Governess, because she has been training for a long time. The only thing that keeps her from running away is the fact that she has the endurance to do so. The other Governess wonders if she gave it up for the sake of running away? She'd rather have a slip on the asphalt than be trampled by a guy who is way too "anal" for her. She can't figure out why she would give up so much for such a small thing as a slip. She wonders if it was because she gave up for so little. She then realizes that she'll have to change into her new clothes before she goes back to the house.
