The Governess apologizes to the Governess for being late. She tells her that she was worried about the danger that the battle would pose to her, but once she heard about the battle, her old habits returned. She says that everyone has been pulled out of her way, and that there is still a young girl in the house. She asks why they would wait, and says that they must go on living, just like their mother did. She also tells her how she took care of the little girl, and how she is now one of the maids on the estate
