In this chapter, Tomouchi and Harima are in the middle of a visit to a shrine in celebration of the new year. Harima asks him what he's doing there, and he tells her that he has to go to the shrine to make a wish for the year. He's counting on the people there to make his wish come true. He tells Harima that he can't believe that he dreamed of making his first visit of the New Year with ji, but that's not what he expected. He also tells her about his mom's plan to get him bitten by a shishi in order to make him forget all of his debts from the previous year. This is a good thing, Harima tells him, because otherwise he wouldn't be able to make the wish. She also tells him that she's going to forget about all of her debts after the visit, and that she doesn't need to worry about them after the shrine trip. She says that she has the best of all possible things to do this year, so she'll do whatever's best for the sake of her family. She tells him about her mom telling him to get bitten by the shishi so that he won't have to go through with his first wish. He says that his mom told him to go get bitten, but he'll have to wait until she gets back to make up for her failure. The shishi are busy putting on a new show, and the man getting bitten is playing his part well, too. The crowd is getting too big for Harima to make it through the crowd, so they're going to leave the shrine grounds and head to a clothing store.
