This chapter's epigraph is from Chapter 10 of the Book of Job. It's a quote from Job's journal, in which he says that the tenth power of his sword is a drop of "life" that drips from the blade. He says that he can still forge the sword, but that it will take more than that to make him give up. He's sorry to say this, but it's true: the blade is a "special metal," and he's the one who needs to hammer out the sword. He wants to agree with him, but he can't, because if he keeps breaking his attempts at swords, he'll lose his chance at the ten powers of the sword forever. He tells her that he needs her strength to help him, and she tells him that she's just a "doll" . She reminds him that his grandfather forged the sword with his own hands, not with the help of a special metal. She tells him to stop trying to "reshape" the blade with his bare hands, and he promises to make the sword using his power.
