In this chapter, we learn more about the creation of the rave master's sword. It's a sealed sword that can cut things that cannot be cut, like smoke and fire. In other words, the sword can cut through anything that's not cut by magic. The only problem, says Ray, is that it's impossible to use the same sword against him twice. Ray points out that this is the first time he's seen the girl on the ground, and he wonders if this is a sign that fate is on her side. He also points to the fact that the girl has a human-like ability to create aetherion, which was used by Resha fifty years ago to create raves. This means that she'll be able to rip the life out of anyone who tries to use her power. Ray says that he doesn't want to kill the girl, but he does want to save time. He says that killing a person is a sacrifice, but killing the whole world to save one person is not a sacrifice at all.
