Meanwhile, back on the island of Illyria, the battle rages on. Enos and Enos's ship has been wrecked, and they've been taken captive by the pirates, who've set fire to the ship. The pirates have taken Enos captive, too, but Enos doesn't care. He's going to find Enos, and he's got a plan: he'll use the magic of his staff to break the ship's mast. He figures that if the pirates capture him, they're going to be waiting for him in the middle of the night. He also figures that the pirates are going to use the scent of the ship to find him, too. He tells Enos that elie's won a dance tournament, and that they'd like to save her too, since she's a better dancer than Enos. He says that he can't kill elie if she wants to, but he can make her beg for her own death if he feels like it. If he wants, he can always bring her back again, and again. But if he wants to die, he has to kill Enos now.
