This chapter opens with a description of the dog who saved Julia's life. The dog's name is Joe, and he's kind of cute. He's got a bug in his mouth, but he manages to stop the bleeding on Julia. He also manages to get Julia out of the way of the bug's attack on her. Julia is still bleeding, but the dog seems to be able to take care of her. Joe asks Julia if she'd like to have some fun with him, and she says she'll do just fine. He tells her to knock herself out if she wants to, and then he'll kill himself if he feels like it. Julia asks him if he can cut off the racket in her ear, but Joe says he can't, since it's so dangerous. They're all looking for a place to sleep, and Joe tells Julia to wake him up if she doesn't want to go to sleep. He then tells her that they need to find a hospital for her, since there's no town in the area, and since the resistance hideout is safe since the government doesn''t yet know about it. They also need to figure out a way to track down the blue guardians ship, since they're going to be there soon. Joe says the sky is really pretty tonight, since the silver claimers are all dying. He says he always thought about this when he was a kid, when they made silver out of people who weren't free. Silver claimers don't even have the right to be near one another, because they've been captured and imprisoned. They make people glitter silver, which is why people are so afraid. Joe then tells Julia that he was also the one who shot her, and that he wanted to
