About This Chapter
In the midst of the battle, the demon master raves about the "demon carnage" he's just witnessed. He's not impressed with the fight's outcome, especially since the opponent is using the same sword forms as he does. He wonders why the opponent has managed to get so far ahead of him, and wonders what it's like to have a "stupid arm" numb from the effects of the "sacrifar" . He also wonders if the "star's will" is telling him to interfere in the battle. The two men agree that they've reached their "worst case scenario" , and they're about to enter the temple. They're not going to be able to defeat the star by gum, they say, because the memories are telling them not to. So, they have to do something. They wake up and raves that the fight is over, and that they can't save the leader's life. He offers to trade the life of the leader for the use of his "sinclaire," which is a magical power that allows one to see the future. He says that if the leader kills him and kills the girl, he'll bring the sinclair to him. But, he says, if anyone tries to kill him, the girl will die. He adds that if anyone comes after him, he will kill them. He tells the two men that they have a chance, but that he hasn't kept any promises in his life, and he doesn't want to start now.
