About This Chapter
In this short scene, Shmoop explains that strength comes from knowing one's weaknesses. He compares his father, gale, to a man who knows his weaknesses, but also needs to protect those weaknesses so that he can do what he needs to do. He says that his father was like that, searching for strength, but knowing that he also needed to protect his weaknesses so he could do the things he needed to do in order to survive. This is why he is so strong, he says, because he knows that he has weaknesses and needs to be strong to protect them. The two boys discuss the lesson they are about to learn today: how to beat two goons, they call them. They are all yours, they say, and they are meant to fight for each other. When they find out that they are fighting with a dark goon, they realize that they must be searching for a foolish or inept goon. They decide to stay and fight, but one step will kill them.
