About This Chapter
The crew decides to send Betty to the International Space Station to have her operated on. They're going to be the first humans to land on the moon and they want to make sure that she's okay. They need to be able to operate on her from the ground, so they need to use a remote control device called the "finger x" . The "finger" is a device that's used to repair delicate machinery on the ground. It's like a remote-control guitar, but it doesn't have to be mounted on a sliding cover. The only difference is that it's not as easy to operate as a guitar. Betty tells the crew that they'll be taking a "side trip" to the moon to do the surgery on her. She says she'll have a "lucky and luxurious" time there. The crew turns the power back on, and Betty asks if there's anything wrong with the moon's power supply. The problem, she says, is that the power has been cut off or improperly connected to the lunar surface. If they don't figure it out, they might have to go back to the ground and fix the problem. The team decides to head back into the capsule and figure out a way to get back to base. They feel like they've been stuck in space for a while now, and they need something to keep their minds off of it.
