The next time we see Dr. Bledsoe, he's in the middle of a meeting. He's been talking about the accident and how it's going to be a big deal for him to get out of the valley. He wants to be able to tell everyone about it, but he doesn't know how to get there. The only thing he knows how to do is go down to the bottom of the chasm and find the buggy. He has a battery that's extended all the way to the top of the slope, but there's no way to get up. He can't communicate with the buggy, and he has no way of knowing if he has enough oxygen to get back up. The battery has been extended, and the tethers have been put together so that he can go down without having to go back up again. He wishes he could see the buggy so he can use it as a signal. The buggy has been found, but the battery isn't extended. The tethers aren't long enough to get him back up, so he has to go down again.
