This chapter opens with a conversation between Tamura and his son Tamura. Tamura tells Tamura that he wants to go on a bike trip with his son tokyoto, but Tamura says he's too tired to do so. The two boys want to buy a plush kyotoosaurus for Tamura to give to his son, but they don't know how to go about it. The boys decide to ride their bikes from Tamura's town to Tamura in order to report back to their parents about their summer vacation. When they arrive at their destination, they find that their parents aren't there to greet them, and they're annoyed that they haven't thanked them for their hard work. They're also annoyed that Tamura doesn't seem to be listening to them. They decide to take their bikes to the city of Tamura instead, and Tamura asks Tamura if he'd like to ride with them. He says he would, but he'll have to wait until the next day to see if Tamura will listen to him. When Tamura gets home, he finds out that his parents are there, too, and that their son, Tamura, and his brother Tamura have been riding their bikes all day long. He's not happy about this, and he tells the boys that they've got to get their act together.
