Okay, Shmoop, we're back with the guys. They're all freaking out about what's going down in the dining hall. They don't even know how long it's been since they last saw each other. Oh, and they're not sure if the salt that they've been using to kill rats has actually gone bad or whether it just came from a long time ago. Okay, now we've got a little snack: salt is a chemical substance that's stable and doesn't change in any way. It's kind of like a buffer between salt and other chemicals, so it can last for a long, long time. So, if it goes bad, they'll just have to rub it on their bodies. Okay. So they go down to the dining room, where they find that the rats have woken up. They think that the salt has worked, but they can't figure out how to get to the chapel to see if the rats are still there. They go up to the fourth-floor apartment and find a toy that looks like it might be a rat.
