The next morning, Mina and the others return to the light house. Mina tells the others that she has seen a doctor and that the doctor has been docile. She tells them that the island they are looking at is not near the town of Okayinawa. Mina says that she looked at a compass and found the island around 26 degrees north of the mainland. She says that if the island were near the mainland like she says, it would be around 13 degrees north. Mina points out that the star positions would differ because the island is near guam, and thus, the stars should be pointing in the direction of the island. The others are impressed by Mina's knowledge of the stars and her skill in drawing. They wonder what is going on with Mina, who has a sketchbook full of drawings. They look at the drawings and see that the girl is ten years old.
