When the ghost appears again, Aka and Toru are shocked to find that he has returned to life. Akira explains that she was swallowed up in the mist by the flash flood, and that only she, Toru, and Aka survived the flood. Toru says that the three of them are the only people who are able to move because they are so thin in height. They are unable to carry everyone down to the bottom of the mountain because the human body can't adapt to the thinner air. They decide to wait and see what happens to everyone.
