In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, Yonada. Yonada is a flight attendant, and he and his friend, Ohmori San, were the first people to arrive in the United States. He asks Yonada to join him for dinner. He tells Yonada that he has business to discuss with zaji, and Yonada tells him to go back to his job as a lookout. He says that he is not compatible with Yonada, but Yonada says he is, and that he will go to work. He then asks how Yonada can help him, and she says that she has business with him. She tells him that she had a crush on a girl named elenchi, who is in class 3. She also says that miyauchi is a friend of hers, and they are both in love with each other. She says that Yonada's guard is full of holes, as she is from a family of boys. She then asks if she can help Yonada with the injuries he has sustained. She asks if he is okay to be around, and when he says he still needs a well, she says she wants to see how everyone is doing. She adds that everyone is working so hard, and if they could expand the camp, it would give Yonada more shelter. She wants to join them, too, and says that if everyone gathers together, they will be able to form bonds, which will give them more strength. He adds that he wants to stand by Yonada any more, because "there is something above me - - . . there is something that is above me."
