About This Chapter
When the group is alone, the kid asks if they can open a lane for him. The answer is no. They're surrounded by adults, and they don't have enough room to maneuver around them. The kid wants to know what's going on, but he doesn't know what to say. He's afraid that the animals are attracted to the smell of his blood, and he'll kill one of them if he has to. He wants to be at the mercy of the animals, but the animals have powerful jaws, talons, and so on. He can't wait to kill them. He grabs the shock from the animals' jaws, and the shock hits him. He thinks it's safe to be the one who knows the blood, so he should be able to hide it away. He tells the kid that he's not worried about the animals at all, because they've brought all their troubles on themselves. He says that the women baited the yakuza with their money, and now he'd like to stop hiding things, too. He shows the kid his secret, which is that he pretended to be a man on the flight to Japan. The men were after him because he witnessed the killing of Towa Big Sister. He pretended to have the men keep aping her, but if they found out, he would also be dead. He asks the kid why he decided to have them find Towa's body, and why he wanted them to find her dead body. He explains that the men would have gone a long way away from him, being his bodyguards, if they'd seen him with Towa. He hopes that everyone calms down and stays back.
