About This Chapter
"An artificial mountain" is the title of this chapter, but it's not really an artificial mountain at all. It's a man-made mountain. The narrator explains that there are two possible ways a mountain can be made: when the magma erupts, it creates a volcano, and when the two plates collide, they create a new earth. The pebbles on the island are made of different things, like pet bottles. They're like "pet flakes" because they're melted down in heat. The deeper you dig, the more weirder the island gets, the narrator says. He's got smoke rising, and he can whip the key with his strength like a "dragon screw leg whip" . He wonders if he has a boy friend, but the teacher doesn't seem to look at him like that. The teacher's face is red, he says, because he's "eating his fill" , which is a woman's way of saying "I'm a woman, too." The teacher says she's fine, and the teacher joins in. The director of the company, who's named after a race of giants in Greek mythology, says he'll do somethin' bout with that lolicon.
