The other monster shows up just as they're about to take down the other one. Gnash is worried that they'll have to kill all of the other monsters to save the kid, and he wonders if they should just kill the one that's closest to them right now. He's sure that they can hit it, but only one time, and that'll be enough to kill it. He wonders if the other monster fell into the pit on its own, and wonders if it's burning its own clothes. He hears the sound of the monster's head being dragged back and forth in the pit. He realizes that the monster is probably not the same one that killed him.
