The hallway leads back to the laboratory. There are drawers on the floor, which are described as "resembling reptiles . . green turtle . turtle fill land . lizards . but all kinds of different kinds . bananas, mangos, mangoes, the heck . What's that all about? The laboratory has a "ball-and-stick models" type of thing. It seems like they're trying to figure out how to make chemical structures out of things. The chapter ends with a reference to the fact that the island's extinct animals were all created in this laboratory.
