About This Chapter
The chapter opens with the heroine bracing herself against the walls of the jungle. She is certain that she can make it down by bracing her arms and legs. The walls are not as slippery as she expected, so she is confident that she will be able to make her way down. She asks if she can borrow a flash light, but she is afraid that it will be sexual harassment for her to ask for it. She tells the others that she cannot tell them what is going on, but that she might find something. She wonders if they can all go down to the bottom and see what is there. She thinks that the jungle must have been inhabited by people, and she wonders if the plants in the jungle are the same plants as the beads they are made of. She speculates that they must have come from the incinerator trash, which is scattered around the bottom. She decides to let everyone know that they are worried, but it is a stuffy place.
