The next morning, the gang heads back to the well, where they find that the wolves have run off. They're not sure if they'll make it back, but they're glad to see that the rock didn't hit them. They talk about how important it is that wolves are willing to risk their lives in order to protect humans. They also talk about the other wolves in the story, such as the "winnipeg wolf" , who never attacked humans until his death, in tribute to the one true friend he had. The wolves are barking at them as they get closer, and the gang wonders how they managed to get there. They wonder if they might be able to get back today.
