About This Chapter
Back at the apartment, Milady tells us that her brother, Jupen, has run away. Jupen is a junior in high school, and Milady has just entered college. Milady is worried about her brother's health, and she rushes to the hospital to find out what's happened. She realizes that Jupen's parents threw his shoes into the street, and that the violence boys have been bullying him. She wonders why Jupen hasn't told her anything, and wonders if it's because he's too scared to tell his sister. She's worried that she's going to fall into a "nightmare" because of her family's troubles, and Jupen says that he doesn't want her to worry about him. He's not worried about his sister, he says, because she'll be home late that night, and he'll still be able to go to school. He says that the only thing he can do is to keep climbing the mountain.
