About This Chapter
When the captain wakes up, he tells the others to hurry to get out of the burning plane. He tells them to go to the cargo shed, where they'll find a rope descent hatch. They'll be able to get there in under 50 meters, and the smoke won't be as bad as it was when the animals attacked the plane. The captain asks if they can use the cargo space to get the doors open, but they can't because the handle of the cargo elevator is "burning hot" . He also tells them that they've been tossed onto the island for no reason, and that everyone on the island is afraid of the monster. They were crying when they realized they had to get off the plane, and they don't blame the captain for that, since he's the only one who can do something about it. He says that he doesn't know if the monster has a "point" or a "temper" , but he does know that everyone is relying on him to do the right thing.
