The three of them stand in front of a diamond-studded quicksand, waiting for Guiqi to hand it over to them. They're not going to let Guiqi go, though, because he's a member of one of the spectral valley's most powerful families, and they want him to die before they can destroy his family. The three decide to attack Guiqi and kill him.
