In the new term, the narrator asks his girlfriend, Kamine, why she's acting so down. Kamine tells him that they'll be separated from each other when they're third-year students, so they won't have as much time to hang out and hang out together as they used to. The narrator tells Kamine that he's sorry, but he doesn't know why. He says that he and Kamine can always talk on the phone, and they go to the same school together. He tells her that it's sad that they can't be together as much as before, but that they have to act like they are in the same place. He admits that he is sad, too, and that he feels lonely. He asks Kamine why she is crying, and she says that she is getting too emo-tional to be able to stand still. She says that they haven't been together for a year, but they've been together since the beginning of the school year. She tells him she needs to be stronger, and he says that's why he is crying. He adds that he needs to read more books, but she says he needs a "still dense and mis-read things a lot" . He apologizes, and says he'll stop crying if he ever needs to.
