This is a locked chapter13_ My Brother's Girlfriend
About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he's a first-year student in high school, and that his name is "hotaru" . He's proud of his brother, who is a "class representative" , but he wishes that his brother could get a girlfriend. He and his friend, Mina gawa-san, are in the same high school class again, and they're both in love with each other. They've been hanging out together for a while now, but they haven't been able to get together yet because Mina is "kind of clingy" and hotaru is "just lip-ser vice." They're not going out, though, because "that hurts," as the narrator puts it. He says that he and his brother have been flirting before, but that he still hasn't gotten a "swer" from his brother. He asks why they aren't getting together yet, and mina replies that she's joking, but hotaru isn't fooled. He tells her that he doesn't want her to "dump" her, and he says that if she does, he'll "hang her out" to dry. She's right, he says, because if he does, she'll get "hurt" if he gets "dumped" by her. He wants to be "financially secure," so he wants to "be financial . . secure." He wants her to know that "he really is," and that he loves her so much that he won't "let her have my brother."
